Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Group, has assured the Supreme Court of his full cooperation in an ongoing investigation into an alleged Rs 40,000 crore banking and corporate fraud involving the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG). In a recent affidavit, Ambani pledged not to leave India without prior court approval and reaffirmed his commitment to participating in the legal process.
The affidavit came in response to a petition filed by former bureaucrat E A S Sarma, who called for a transparent and prompt investigation into the alleged fraud. The court is pressing for a fair and thorough probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate amid concerns of potential procedural delays and mismanagement.
Ambani’s legal representation, led by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, underscored his willingness to comply with investigation protocols and counter any claims of evasion. Despite Sarma's apprehension regarding a potential escape, Ambani has assured the court that he will remain within the country until the investigations are concluded.
