BJP MLA Sanjay Kelkar has demanded transparency in the functioning of the Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) property department, calling for a 'white paper' on its operations. Alleging misuse and opaque leasing of civic properties, Kelkar insists on reclaiming these assets and issuing notices to those responsible.
During a meeting with Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Kelkar highlighted the exploitation of contract workers by contractors within the TMC. He pointed to the non-payment of minimum wages and inadequate facilities, urging immediate contractor accountability.
Additionally, Kelkar pressed for the speedy realization of the 'Colour Museum' project in Thane, advocated prompt resolution of inheritance cases, and reiterated the need for strict implementation of the hawker policy, emphasizing the encroachment issues posed by unauthorized hawkers.
