A young man, identified as Arun Nishad, was allegedly shot dead by his friends in Tenuiya village, located in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district, as reported on Sunday evening. The incident incited protests and a temporary road blockade by livid villagers.
Arun was lured out of his residence by an acquaintance, Vishal, around 4 PM. According to investigative reports, Vishal, along with Devendra and a group of others, led Arun to a nearby field where a conflict unfolded, leading to Arun being fatally shot.
The news unleashed local outrage, resulting in the blockade of the Gorakhpur - Maharajganj road for about half an hour. Villagers demanded immediate arrests, and the protest was called off after assurances from police for timely action. The police identified two named suspects and others are under investigation.
