Unprecedented Oath Ceremony: A New Chapter for Bangladesh's Cabinet

In an unprecedented move, Bangladesh's President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the new cabinet of BNP chairman Tarique Rahman at the National Parliament complex on February 17, according to official sources. This departure from tradition bypasses the presidential palace for a venue at Jatiya Sangsad's South Plaza.

Following the ceremony, the Chief Election Commissioner, AMM Nasir Uddin, will swear in the newly elected parliament members instead of the outgoing Speaker, due to constitutional protocol. This comes after it was revealed the former Speaker is absent and the deputy speaker is incarcerated, leading to procedural adaptations.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid's departure marks another shift in administrative structure, replaced by Siraj Uddin Mia amid administrative changes under Muhammad Yunus' interim government. Rashid's resignation was confirmed following an acceptance of his exit from the post.
