Congress Urges Action Against Rising Crime in Uttarakhand

The opposition Congress party organized a protest in Uttarakhand on Saturday, highlighting concerns over the rising crime rate in the state. Led by State Congress President Ganesh Godiyal, the demonstrators marched towards the State Police Headquarters in a bid to prompt action from the authorities.

Submitting a memorandum to the Dehradun Superintendent of Police, City, Pramod Kumar, Godiyal criticized the state government and police for their failure to curb the recent surge in violent incidents. He pointed out that five murders in Dehradun and a double murder in Haldwani over the last 15 days have caused widespread fear among the populace.

Godiyal demanded that the government take definitive steps to ensure public safety and make the state crime-free. He warned that Congress would continue its protests if the administration fails to act. Notable attendees at the protest included Election Management Committee Chairman Harak Singh Rawat and State Women Congress President Jyoti Rautela.
