The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stepped into the spotlight as officials visited a girls' hostel in Patna, probing the death of a NEET aspirant. The visit marks a significant move following the agency's formal takeover of the sensitive case and registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
The deceased student, originating from Jehanabad, was found unconscious in early January at Shambhu girls' hostel. She succumbed after five days in a coma, initiating a political controversy and leading to the state's decision to involve the CBI by the end of January.
Under scrutiny is the allegation of sexual assault, with family claims of a cover-up. The police arrested a hostel employee, and the CBI, in collaboration with Patna Police, is exploring the case. Their efforts include possible crime scene recreation and analysis of DNA evidence collected by the Special Investigation Team.
