Major Police Reshuffle in Uttarakhand: A Move Towards Crime Prevention

The Uttarakhand government has announced a major reshuffle of senior police officers in response to a surge in criminal incidents across the state. Among those transferred is Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, who has now been appointed as the SSP of the Special Task Force.

Haridwar SSP Pramendra Dobal has taken over as Dehradun's SSP, while several other officers have received new assignments. The realignment follows a directive from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against crime.

In light of recent criminal activities, including multiple murders in Dehradun, the chief minister has called for a shift from reactive measures to proactive crime prevention strategies, including strengthening the informer network and instilling a fear of law among criminals.
