Revenue Inspector Caught in Bribery Scandal

A revenue inspector in Maradu municipality, Kochi, was apprehended on Saturday for allegedly taking a Rs 3,000 bribe for issuing house ownership certificates, according to Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) officials.

The accused, identified as K Saju A G, 45, hailing from Kottamkulangara in Alappuzha district, allegedly demanded a total of Rs 5,000 for the service, even after applications were properly filed through an Akshaya centre with the requisite fee.

The complainant, resisting the unlawful demand, notified VACB authorities leading to a successful sting operation at the Maradu municipality office. Arrest procedures are underway, with the case scheduled to be taken up in Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court.
