In Nanded, a school teacher has been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe to amend the date of birth on a woman's class 10 certificate, officials revealed. Identified as Manohar Shinde, 45, the teacher reportedly demanded a total of Rs 3,300 for the alteration.

Shinde, who initially accepted Rs 1,000 and later an additional Rs 2,200 via an online platform, further requested Rs 400 through a WhatsApp message for completion via a peon. Both the teacher and the peon were detained on February 3.

As the police investigate, searches at their residences are underway, and their mobile phones are being scrutinized. The case, registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, is awaiting further legal proceedings.
