Opposition parties on Thursday accused the state government of orchestrating a conspiracy to delay charge sheets in the Sabarimala gold loss cases, resulting in statutory bail for the accused. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, V D Satheesan, alleged that bail-granted to prime suspect Unnikrishnan Potty-was part of a larger scheme.
The Congress-led UDF has repeatedly raised the issue in the Assembly, claiming interventions from the Chief Minister's Office have hampered the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) efforts. Satheesan warned that evidence might be destroyed once the accused exit jail, while alleging imminent bail for other CPI(M) leaders involved.
Meanwhile, CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan refuted these claims, accusing Satheesan of misleading the public. He suggested that Congress leaders were deflecting attention as the investigation closes in on them. Further allegations surfaced from BJP's B Gopalakrishnan, who said a minister was being shielded by focusing blame on Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru.
