In a devastating attack, 162 people were killed by armed extremists in two villages in Kwara state, western Nigeria, marking one of the country's deadliest incidents in recent months, a lawmaker reported on Wednesday.
The assaults, which took place on Tuesday evening in the villages of Woro and Nuku, have been linked to the Lakurawa group, associated with the Islamic State. The attacks come amid a period of intensified violence against civilians in the region.
