In a daring pre-dawn escape, four prisoners scaled the high walls of Sadiya District Jail in Assam's Tinsukia district, officials confirmed on Wednesday, prompting a massive manhunt. The escapees were identified as Nabin Buragohain, Amlanjyoti Chetia, Sasadhar Deori, and Huntu Sonowal.

Authorities reported that the inmates used a makeshift rope made from tied clothes to climb over the prison’s perimeter, disappearing into the surrounding area. Sadiya Senior Superintendent of Police Jagadish Das was alerted after the morning rounds revealed the prisoners' absence.

A comprehensive search is underway, with all nearby police stations notified. District authorities have cordoned off several exit points in Tinsukia. An internal inquiry will investigate potential negligence by jail staff during the breach.
