In a meticulously coordinated 20-hour operation, security forces successfully neutralized two terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district. Amongst those killed was Avu Mavia, a top commander active for several years, according to officials.
Identified as Operation Kiya, the mission was executed by troops of the Counter-Intelligence Force Delta and White Knight Corps, based on intelligence inputs from the local police. The area, Jophar Forest, Basantgarh, was effectively cordoned off with assistance from the CRPF, ensuring the terrorists could not escape.
The Army lauded the operation as a showcase of seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical skill, and professionalism. While surveillance continues in the area, authorities recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including an M4 carbine and an AK assault rifle, from the slain militants.
