Intense Gunfight Erupts in Jammu and Kashmir Forests with Suspected Pakistani Terrorists

Security forces faced a tense standoff in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district as they engaged suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists. The one-hour gunfight erupted after the Army, with the help of police and CRPF, surrounded the terrorists in a cave.

Part of the operation named ‘Kiya,’ the Army's White Knight Corps, police, and CRPF coordinated efforts to trap the suspects in the Basantgarh area. Using paratroopers and sniffer dogs, they aimed to dislodge the terrorists by fortifying the perimeter.

This encounter follows a spike in altercations in the area since December, with multiple skirmishes taking place across districts. The operation highlights ongoing counter-terrorism efforts amid heightened tensions in the Jammu region.
