Kashmir's Migrants: Return and Rehabilitation Initiatives Underway
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced that no new registrations for Kashmir migrant relief will be entertained due to improved conditions. The Prime Minister's Return and Rehabilitation Package aims at ensuring voluntary return, housing, and employment for migrants. Over 98% of the 6,000 job placements promised under the package have been fulfilled.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated on Wednesday that the registration of new cases under the Kashmir migrant relief assistance is currently halted due to an improved law and order situation in the region.
The Prime Minister's Return and Rehabilitation Package, initiated with a financial outlay of Rs 1,618.40 crore in 2009, seeks the safe return of Kashmiri migrants by providing housing, employment, and socio-economic security.
Abdullah reported that 98% of the promised 6,000 job placements have been fulfilled so far, significantly aiding the migrant youth's livelihood security. Transition housing for over 3,000 employees has been completed, further facilitating the relocation process.
