The tragic event unfolded in Kodyai village's Bonli area when Devi went into a forest to graze goats. She was attacked by unidentified assailants who slit her throat and severed her legs to steal silver ankle cuffs, weighing about 2.5 kg.
The discovery of Devi's body by villagers led to widespread outrage. Her grandson, Vikas, claimed the robbers also took gold and silver ornaments. In protest, villagers blocked the main road, urging police to apprehend the culprits swiftly.
