Amitabh Thakur, a former IPS officer currently incarcerated on land fraud charges, was discharged from the Maharshi Devaraha Baba Medical College. Doctors deemed his condition stable following three days of medical treatment, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Thakur had been admitted on Saturday, initially complaining of abdominal pain while in district jail. Medical assessments included various tests such as an ultrasound and CT scan, eventually diagnosing an abdominal infection which was treated.

His release came after he was placed under medication and observation by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, head of the surgical department. Thakur faces accusations dating back to his tenure as Deoria SP in 1999, where he allegedly misused his power to secure land fraudulently.
