A 20-year-old law student from Navi Mumbai, Shreya Narendra Pati, who had been reported missing, was found dead in a 400-foot gorge at Tiger Point, Lonavala. Pune Police utilized drone cameras for the discovery, suspecting suicide as domestic tensions may have prompted the extreme step.
Local trekking group Shivdurg Mitra Trekkers retrieved her body from the gorge. Shreya, a student at BITs Law School in Kalyan, left her Navi Mumbai home on January 30, citing a trek to Lonavala's Duke's Nose, promising to return by 5 pm. However, her mobile remained unreachable.
Her father was informed by a snack vendor at Tiger Point who found Shreya's college ID in her abandoned bag. Investigations revealed she traveled to Duke's Nose alone and returned to Tiger Point in a rickshaw before her alleged suicide. No note was found, but familial tensions are suspected as a cause.
