In a significant breakthrough, the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has detained Faizan Shaikh, who is accused of being influenced by radical ideologies linked to Al Qaeda and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Authorities accuse him of illegally securing weapons with intent to attack a particular group.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district, but residing in Gujarat's Navsari district, Shaikh was captured as part of an ongoing terror conspiracy investigation. His apprehension adds to concerns regarding domestic radicalization and threats posed by locally grown terror cells.
Previously, the Gujarat ATS uncovered a major terrorist plot, arresting individuals involved in sourcing and preparing lethal substances, like ricin, to carry out attacks. This recent arrest underscores the persistent threat of terrorism and the vigilance required to avert such plans.
