Praveen Vashista, a seasoned former Indian Police Service officer, officially assumed the role of Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on Friday. Administered by Central Vigilance Commissioner P K Srivastava, Vashista took the oath in a ceremony attended by high-ranking officials from the Department of Personnel, CBI, and Enforcement Directorate.

His prestigious appointment brings the CVC to its full operating strength. Previously, Vashista held pivotal positions like special secretary in the Union home ministry, where he handled internal security. His extensive career, spanning over three decades, includes significant contributions in areas such as law enforcement and crisis management.

Vashista's expertise was honed during his tenure with the Economic Offences Wing and Crime Investigation Department of Bihar, as well as his service in the Central Bureau of Investigation. His new role as Vigilance Commissioner will have a tenure of four years or until he reaches 65 years of age.
