The Supreme Court has postponed hearing the Chhattisgarh government's appeal against the bail granted to Chaitanya Baghel, the son of former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, in connection with a purported liquor scam.
The deferral came following submissions from senior advocates representing both sides. Chaitanya, deemed a key figure in the alleged scam, was granted bail by the Chhattisgarh High Court earlier this year.
The high court cited the need for parity, as other senior accused have received bail. Authorities allege a considerable financial loss to the state due to a liquor syndicate, with Chaitanya's alleged involvement in managing substantial sums from the proceeds.
