The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) announced plans to intensify its scrutiny over the appointment of 'keezhsahnthies', assistant priests at the Sabarimala temple, following recent controversies.

TDB president P S Prasanth revealed that future priest appointments would undergo stringent background checks and remain under the surveillance of the temple's vigilance wing.

The move comes amidst allegations of gold disappearance from the temple linked to Unnikrishnan Potty. Despite constraints due to court verdicts, the TDB aims to incorporate more assistant priests from the Devaswom panel.
