Federal Prosecutors Suspended Over Capitol Riot Remarks
Two federal prosecutors were praised by a judge despite being suspended for describing the January 6 Capitol attackers as a 'mob of rioters' in a court filing. The prosecutors, Samuel White and Carlos Valdivia, were recognized for their professionalism in a case involving charges against Taylor Taranto.

In a striking move on Thursday, U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols commended two federal prosecutors despite their suspension over controversial remarks made in a court filing regarding the January 6 Capitol attack. The prosecutors referred to Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol as 'a mob of rioters.'
The case in question involved Taylor Taranto, who faced charges after being caught near former President Barack Obama's home. While Taranto was found guilty on gun and hoax allegations, he received no further imprisonment, having already been in custody beforehand.
The suspension of prosecutors Samuel White and Carlos Valdivia has sparked debate, highlighting ongoing tensions concerning the interpretation and legal consequences of the Capitol riot, a narrative often dismissed by Trump and his allies.
