Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has rejected a proposal to renew the lease for land owned by the Jeejeebhoy Trust, a well-known charitable organization in Mumbai's Mazgaon area. This decision follows accusations that some business entities were exploiting the trust to occupy government land.
During a recent meeting, where notable attendees included MLC Sachin Ahir and NCP MLC Amol Mitkari, it was decided that funds paid improperly by Ekya Realty Pvt Ltd would be refunded. According to officials, the trust holds lease rights over two significant plots and had issues with the payment process.
The situation has raised questions about potential development plans for the properties. Minister Bawankule emphasized that the lease renewal would not proceed without thorough review. Meanwhile, Ahir recommended immediate government action to reclaim and auction the properties for future development.
