Kerala Boosts Social Security Pensions

The Kerala government on Wednesday took a significant step to enhance social welfare by announcing a Rs 400 increase in the monthly welfare pension. This decision raises the pension amount to Rs 2,000, bringing relief to a considerable number of beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, addressing the media after the state Cabinet meeting, made the announcement, highlighting the government's commitment to supporting the vulnerable sections of society. The hike aims to address the financial needs of pensioners, ensuring they have better economic security.

Around 62 lakh people who were previously receiving Rs 1,600 as a social security pension will now benefit from this increase. The government's move is seen as a proactive measure to uplift the financial status of its citizens amidst economic challenges.
