The CPI(M)-led Left government in Kerala has decided to halt the execution of the PM SHRI scheme, following objections from its coalition partner, CPI. The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who cited controversies surrounding the scheme's implementation.
Chief Minister Vijayan established a seven-member Cabinet sub-committee to examine the scheme in detail. This comes amid accusations from the CPI that the initiative would further an RSS agenda in Kerala's education sector. Despite initial support for the MoU, CPI fears deviation from the Left Democratic Front's policies.
