In a significant legal ruling, a Delhi motor accident claims tribunal has awarded Rs 28.77 lakh in compensation to the family of Ranjan Kumar, a victim of a fatal BMW car crash in 2022.
Presiding officer Charu Gupta determined that Kumar's death was the result of rash and negligent driving by the BMW's driver. The tribunal concluded that both the driver and car owner were accountable for compensation due to the vehicle being uninsured and driven without proper authorization.
Kumar, described as the family's sole bread earner, was fatally injured on July 10, 2022, near Lala Lajpat Rai Marg by the Maharashtra-registered BMW. As the vehicle was undergoing repair and operated without owner consent, the tribunal ruled in favor of the family, ensuring they receive compensation for their loss.
