East Asia Summit Urges Peaceful Dispute Resolution Amidst South China Sea Tensions

At the latest East Asia Summit in Malaysia, international leaders called for a peaceful settlement of disputes, subtly directing their message to China regarding its assertive military actions in the South China Sea.

This declaration was made at the conclusion of the summit held in Kuala Lumpur, with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar representing India alongside participants from ASEAN nations, China, Japan, the US, and more.

The summit underlined the significance of mutual understanding, regional peace, and adherence to international law, including UNCLOS, amidst pressing concerns about energy trade, selective norm applications, and the need for zero tolerance towards terrorism.
