Brussels Awaits Crucial China Talks Amid Rare Earth Concerns

European Council President Antonio Costa revealed on Monday that top Chinese officials are set to visit Brussels in the next few weeks. The talks aim to address Beijing's recent export restrictions on rare earth elements, which have intensified global trade tensions, particularly with the U.S.

China exerts control over more than 90% of the global supply of these critical materials, essential for industries like electric vehicles and semiconductors. Costa expressed concern about the impact of China's export control measures during an ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur.

Additionally, Costa indicated that the EU would soon finalize trade agreements with Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. However, Costa affirmed that the EU would refrain from sending observers to Myanmar's elections, not recognizing the military regime's authority.
