In a dramatic turn of events, two policemen were injured in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district during a confrontation while attempting to arrest a man wanted for culpable homicide, according to officials.
The attack unfolded on Wednesday evening when villagers, including family members of the accused, reportedly pelted stones and attacked the officers with sharp weapons, seizing and later returning two guns from the police. The injured officers were sent to Satna for medical treatment.
The incident ignited political backlash, as the opposition Congress questioned the law and order situation under BJP's government, specifically targeting Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. State Congress president Jitu Patwari criticized the government's handling of the situation, demanding for the Home Minister's resignation to restore order.
