Justice Delivered: Life Imprisonment for Former BSP Councillor in 2004 Murder Case

A local court has handed down life sentences to former Bahujan Samaj Party councillor Manish Pandit and his associate Manoj Kumar, convicting them in a 2004 murder case. This decision concludes a prolonged legal journey marked by 'delayed justice,' as remarked by a member of the victim's family.

The Ghaziabad court, led by Additional District and Sessions Judge Zunaid Muzaffar, found both accused guilty under the Indian Penal Code for charges of murder and attempted murder that arose from a political rivalry. The charges stemmed from events on November 14, 2004, when Pandit and Kumar were implicated in a fatal office shooting incident.

This case appeared in court following a complaint by Vijay Pal. His brother was killed, and his nephew injured, reportedly due to political tensions after a lost election. Life imprisonment is accompanied by fines, with extended jail time if left unpaid. The verdict closes a chapter of unrest and provides a semblance of closure for the affected family.
