In a move that has further strained international relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the United Nations' decision to reinstate sanctions against Iran. Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the action as illegal and influenced by Western interests.
The controversial reinstatement, which was enacted on September 27, involves the resumption of an arms embargo as part of broader sanctions associated with Iran's nuclear activities. The decision, known as snapback, was set in motion by several European powers.
Tehran has issued a warning that the sanctions will be met with a severe counter-response, marking a turbulent chapter in the ongoing crisis surrounding Iran's nuclear program.
