The US Department of State has taken decisive action against foreign nationals accused of supporting Iran's regime by revoking their lawful permanent resident (LPR) status. Those affected were subsequently taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following their detainment due to the termination of their green card status.

The State Department's decision, announced on Saturday, came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the revocation. Among those arrested are Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of the late Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Qasem Soleimani, and her daughter. Rubio labeled Afshar as a vocal supporter of the Iranian regime, alleging her involvement in promoting propaganda and celebrating attacks on American personnel.

According to the official statement, Afshar maintained a luxurious lifestyle in Los Angeles while actively disseminating pro-Iran regime content on social media. Her husband is now also barred from entering the US. Meanwhile, the US has also revoked the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, daughter of a senior former Iranian official, and her spouse, further highlighting Washington's tougher stance amid current geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
