Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in bilateral talks with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, focusing on the enhancement of political and economic relations between India and Slovakia. The discussions highlighted future cooperation in innovation, industry, and technology, as President Pellegrini attended the AI Impact Summit 2026 in India, meeting with several global leaders.

In a separate meeting, Slovak President Pellegrini was received by India's President Murmu, who reminisced about her previous state visit to Slovakia. Both leaders emphasized AI’s significance for the collective good, discussing principles centered around 'People, Planet, and Progress' to drive inclusive AI growth, according to an official statement.

President Murmu pointed to the bolstered India-Slovakia ties in various sectors such as trade and technology, expressing confidence that the summit would further invigorate bilateral relations. The India AI Impact Summit 2026, taking place in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 16 to February 20, gathered international policymakers, AI experts, and innovators to propel global dialogues on artificial intelligence.

As the first global AI summit in the Global South, the India AI Impact Summit aims to highlight AI's transformative potential, aligning with the national motto 'Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya' and advocating for AI for Humanity. The summit witnessed participation from over 110 countries and numerous international organizations, including high-level state officials and ministers.

This event forms part of an international progression to fortify global cooperation on AI governance and impact. Guided by the foundational pillars of People, Planet, and Progress, the summit champions a human-centric AI that respects rights, ensures equitable benefits, and fosters sustainable advancement. This marks the fourth AI summit series following events in the UK, South Korea, and France, initiated by the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park, UK, in 2023, which established a global consensus on AI risk management.
