Strengthened Ties: Macron's India Visit Highlights Innovation Year

French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside First Lady Brigitte Macron, has commenced an official visit to India, marking his fourth trip to the nation, from February 16 to 19. The visit unfolds against a backdrop of strengthening ties between New Delhi and Paris, especially in defense, technology, and clean energy sectors.

Upon arrival in Mumbai, the Macrons were warmly greeted by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The visit includes key discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on bilateral cooperation under the Horizon 2047 Roadmap and addressing regional and global issues, including the Indo-Pacific.

A significant event during the visit is the launch of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, highlighting the nations' commitment to innovation in AI and emerging technologies. The summit, running from February 16 to 20 in Delhi, is the first global AI summit in the Global South, underscoring the importance of technological collaboration between India and France.
