In an urgent move, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has summoned the security cabinet for a critical meeting on Tuesday. The decision comes in the wake of ongoing violations by Hamas concerning the initial phase of the Gaza ceasefire, as indicated by Israeli authorities. A recent handover of remains, initially thought to belong to a hostage already returned, are subject to confirmation.

The development marks roughly a week since the Hamas faction last delivered an unaccounted-for body. Israeli officials express growing concern over Hamas's non-compliance with retrieval agreements. In response, Israel is reportedly contemplating revising the Yellow Line to extend its control over more of Gaza's territory. Meanwhile, Netanyahu attended his corruption trial hearing in Tel Aviv this morning but plans to lead the forthcoming emergency session.

Far-right ministers have seized on recent events to call for immediate, forceful measures ensuring the return of the remaining 13 victims. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stated that Hamas's delay in releasing all hostages signifies its persistent operation as a terror entity. He urged Prime Minister Netanyahu to take decisive action against Hamas, aligning with the War of Revival's primary aim. Alongside, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for a swift security-cabinet discussion to solidify responses aimed at dismantling Hamas and neutralizing threats from Gaza to Israeli citizens.

Amid heightened tensions, Israeli forensic analysis confirmed that the remains handed over last night did not correlate with any of the known deceased or missing hostages. The Health Ministry's National Forensic Institute confirmed no matches following identification efforts facilitated by the Red Cross. The possibility of the remains belonging to a previously returned hostage remains open, though details are scarce.

Hamas attributes recovery challenges to war-inflicted debris, while Israeli officials counterclaim that Hamas knows the whereabouts of most bodies and is deliberately withholding them. Reports emerge of an IDF drone capturing Hamas operatives orchestrating a staged retrieval of a body in northern Gaza, fueling accusations of ceasefire breaches. The footage reportedly shows operatives orchestrating a burial to create propaganda, yet the IDF has not disseminated the footage publicly.

Efforts to address these claims led to Egypt deploying heavy machinery to the region via Kerem Shalom crossing to aid recovery operations. Additionally, Qatari media report Red Cross vehicles have been dispatched to the Rafah vicinity to contribute to the search. The crisis follows the devastating attack on October 7, 2023, by Hamas which resulted in 1,200 casualties and 252 kidnappings, including both Israelis and foreigners.
