Maharashtra is ramping up its fight against Japanese encephalitis, spurred by a robust vaccination drive and comprehensive preventive measures. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis underscored the government's commitment to public health, calling for coordinated efforts to tackle the mosquito-borne disease.
The state had previously lagged in its vaccination efforts but gained momentum following an approach to the Centre. These initiatives have sharply reduced cases, with a few isolated incidents reported in certain districts. However, vigilance remains essential as the disease, which can lead to severe neurological complications, persists.
Health officials have identified Vidarbha region as particularly vulnerable due to rural mosquito breeding. The state's campaign has achieved significant vaccination coverage, though disparities in certain areas exist. Diagnostic centers and intensive care units are established to bolster the state's response, emphasizing the urgency of vaccination and immediate medical intervention.
