In a fervent start to the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) treasurer and Rajya Sabha MP Sudish participated in the voting process at Valasaravakkam on Thursday. Confidence resonated from DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth, who projected a win for the ruling alliance, spearheaded by Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Premalatha, casting her vote in the Virukambakkam constituency, reaffirmed this optimism, showcasing her inked finger to reporters. She assured that the Secular Progressive Alliance was on the verge of a significant victory, stating, "The alliance is poised to win decisively. Brother Stalin is on the path to retain his position as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu because the public desires this outcome overwhelmingly," she articulated.
As polls opened, Tamil Nadu reported a remarkable voter turnout at 37.57% by 11 a.m., with Tiruppur district leading at 42.45%. The voting process in Tamil Nadu is a single-phase affair, concluding at 6 p.m., while West Bengal is amidst its first of two polling phases. The political clash is largely between DMK-led and AIADMK-led alliances. Vote counting is slated for May 4.
