Germany Faces Oil Supply Disruption as Russia Halts Kazakh Crude via Druzhba Pipeline
Germany has been informed by Rosneft that Russia will halt the supply of Kazakh crude oil via the Druzhba pipeline, affecting the PCK Schwedt refinery. This adds to Germany's fuel concerns amid disrupted Gulf flows due to the Iran war. The decision impacts Germany's energy security and regional pricing.
Germany was notified that Russia plans to halt the supply of Kazakh crude oil through the Druzhba pipeline, which could significantly impact the PCK Schwedt refinery, a major supplier of fuel to Berlin. This development comes as Germany faces fuel supply challenges exacerbated by the Iran war disrupting Gulf oil flows.
Kazakhstan's oil exports to Germany via the pipeline amounted to 2.146 million metric tons last year. The halt in supply could deepen Germany's energy concerns, although authorities assert that it won't jeopardize the nation's overall fuel supply security. Nevertheless, regional pricing fluctuations may occur.
Rosneft Germany, under trusteeship, has informed Berlin of the Russian Ministry of Energy's decision to stop Kazakh oil transport through the pipeline starting May 1, 2026. The Federal Network Agency, in coordination with Rosneft Germany, is monitoring the situation closely to address potential regional impacts.
