Portugal Stands Firm Amid European Jet Fuel Shortage Worries

Portugal has expressed confidence in its ability to maintain stable jet fuel supplies, countering wider European concerns about potential shortages as the holiday travel season approaches. Infrastructure Minister Miguel Pinto Luz affirmed the government's position, stating its proactive communication with oil companies to ensure adequate stock levels at national airports.

These measures come amidst warnings from European airlines about potential disruptions caused by the Iran war. However, Luz highlighted Portugal's advantageous position due to its primary supplier, Galp Energia, which imports crude from Brazil, therefore insulating it from Middle Eastern supply volatility.

Looking forward, Portugal does not anticipate any disruptions over the coming months. Galp Energia's production capabilities, along with available reserves and strategic imports, are expected to keep jet fuel supplies steady, providing reassurance to travelers and airlines operating within and through Portuguese airports.
