Vedanta Power Plant Tragedy: FIR Lodged Following Fatal Boiler Blast

A first information report (FIR) has been filed against the management of Vedanta Power Plant following a catastrophic boiler explosion that resulted in the tragic death of 20 individuals, as confirmed by Sakti Superintendent of Police, Prafull Thakur, on Thursday. Fifteen people are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.
Preliminary investigations suggest the occurrence of a criminal offense linked to the accident, according to Superintendent Thakur. 'Our initial findings indicate a criminal element in the incident at the Vedanta Power Plant,' he stated to press reporters.
Legal proceedings have commenced, with a case registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at Dabra Police Station. The FIR includes the names of approximately 8 to 10 individuals affiliated with the company and others associated with the event. Additional persons implicated in the incident may also face charges. The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, emphasized the state's commitment to conducting a thorough inquiry. Vedanta Power Limited has announced a compensation package of Rs 35 lakh and pledged employment support for the bereaved families.
In a gesture of empathy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased, with Rs 50,000 designated for those injured, from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
