Advance registration for the highly-anticipated Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra officially started on Wednesday, with facilities available across Jammu and nationwide. This annual pilgrimage is set to begin on July 3, 2026, and will conclude on August 28, 2026, marking the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
The announcement was made earlier by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who presides as the Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. Sinha confirmed that registration—both online and at 554 bank branches—began on April 15, offering accessibility through Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Yes Bank.
Eligibility criteria for the Yatra specify age limits between 13 and 70 years. Increasing participation reflects growing faith and infrastructure improvements. New safety measures include mandatory RFID cards and increased group accidental insurance, from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Infrastructure updates feature widened tracks and better disaster response systems, supported by security forces.
