The Delhi government has implemented stricter guidelines concerning the supply of commercial LPG cylinders. In a significant policy change, businesses operating in areas with piped natural gas (PNG) infrastructure are now required to apply for or possess a PNG connection.
This directive, issued by the Food, Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department, stipulates that commercial and industrial consumers of LPG must register with the relevant oil marketing company (OMC) and comply with the application requirement for a PNG connection.
Provisions have been made for areas without PNG infrastructure, allowing consumers to express future intentions to switch to PNG. OMCs will verify compliance through documentation and coordinate with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to facilitate the change. Flexibility is offered for businesses needing both LPG and PNG, as applications can be submitted to the additional commissioner for review.
