Leviathan Gas Field Returns: Powering the Eastern Mediterranean

The Leviathan gas field, a significant asset in the Eastern Mediterranean, is set to resume operations following a shutdown due to regional conflict, the Israeli energy ministry announced on Thursday.

Chevron, the operator, ceased activities after the U.S. and Israel began military actions against Iran. According to an energy ministry spokesperson, recent assessments prompted the decision to reactivate the gas platform.

The Leviathan field aims to enhance local and international gas supplies, increasing capacity by 9 billion cubic metres annually. The expansion project expects to meet demands in Egypt, the region, and Europe through substantial natural gas exports.
