Former Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh highlighted these achievements during the launch of a new book titled 'Claiming Our Skies,' commemorating the mission's 15th anniversary.
This book, published by Social Science Press and brought out by Transform Rural India, documents the decade-long journey of the NRLM. With contributions from 30 experts, it showcases the program's evolution in rural transformation through self-help groups, federations, and livelihood initiatives.
Over 100 million rural women have been mobilized into more than 9 million self-help groups, showcasing the program's immense scale. It stands as a global leader in social sector initiatives, fostering financial inclusion and women's leadership, driving a profound shift in community dynamics across India.
