India and Japan's Crude-for-LPG Swap: Rule Constraints
India currently has no crude-for-LPG swap deal with Japan, an Indian official confirmed, citing export restrictions. Joint Secretary in the Oil Ministry, Sujata Sharma, emphasized India's current regulations prohibit such trade agreements. Inpex had previously considered supplying LPG to India in exchange for naphtha and crude oil.
India does not have a crude-for-LPG swap deal with Japan, an Indian government official confirmed on Wednesday. The official cited existing regulations that prevent such crude oil exports by New Delhi.
Sujata Sharma, joint secretary in the oil ministry, stated, "I am not aware. Our rules do not allow crude oil and LPG exports."
Last week, Reuters reported that Inpex might consider supplying India with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in exchange for naphtha and crude oil.
