The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has sanctioned the construction of a 20 MW floating solar power plant in Chilua Tal, Gorakhpur, reinforcing the state's push toward renewable energy.
Chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the cabinet meeting highlighted the government's strategy to promote solar power across urban areas, aiming to designate Gorakhpur as a key solar city.
State Energy and Urban Development Minister AK Sharma announced that Coal India Ltd would oversee the project, which spans 80 acres provided by local authorities, aligning with efforts to replicate Ayodhya's transformation into the state's first solar city.
