The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has decided to increase the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat by Rs 160 per quintal, a move aimed at supporting the state's farmers.
State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi announced the revised MSP of Rs 2,585 per quintal. Wheat procurement will commence after Ram Navami, from March 30, 2026, utilizing multiple agencies across all districts.
Efforts are underway to maximize procurement with a target set at 50 lakh metric tonnes, while ensuring efficient distribution and reducing the role of middlemen through an online system.
