This event marks the participation of naval personnel from 16 friendly foreign nations, underscoring the country's commitment to fostering cooperation at sea.
In February 2026, the Indian Navy assumed the chair of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, further facilitating collaboration among the 16 IONS nations included in the current edition. The program builds on India's security policy, SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region), and the broader framework, MAHASAGAR, to ensure mutual advancement in maritime security across regions.
This edition of IOS SAGAR sets out to enhance operational engagement among naval personnel from participating countries. Professional training kicks off in Kochi, focusing on critical naval operations and maritime security concepts. The initiative includes deployment on an Indian Naval Ship for collaborative sea activities, fostering professional bonds and shared understanding.
