The Bank of England unveiled new proposals on Tuesday designed to ensure that banks can swiftly monetize their liquid assets during rapid stress events.
The focus of these proposals is to make liquid assets more usable in challenging times, rather than mandating banks to hold more.
This initiative draws on critical lessons from the financial turmoil observed during the March 2023 collapses of Silicon Valley Bank and Credit Suisse, according to Sam Woods, CEO of the Prudential Regulation Authority.
